In honour of Labour Day, United Hands of Hope (UHOH) hosted a breakfast meeting with 20 Administration Police (AP)
officers in Kenya. The mission, organized by Dr. Marrietta Reformado, UHOH’s Humanitarian Director, was designed to
appreciate the relentless service of the AP unit in upholding national peace and security.
The breakfast event created a relaxed, respectful space for officers and UHOH team members to connect. UHOH
expressed gratitude for their national service and opened the floor for discussions on how the organization could support
them and their communities better.
During the conversation, officers shared critical infrastructure challenges behind their station. A shallow drainage system
located near the police residential area often overflows during heavy rains, affecting the living conditions of officers and
their families.
This overflow leads to water stagnation that fosters mosquito breeding, exposing children and families to malaria, cholera,
and other waterborne diseases. The lack of adequate sanitation also risks further health complications for those living in
close proximity.
UHOH immediately committed to fixing the drainage system as a top priority. This repair project is now underway as part of
UHOH’s Community Welfare and Infrastructure Support initiative. The aim is to restore proper sanitation, protect families
from preventable diseases, and improve the officers’ quality of life.
UHOH is committed to continuing this relationship with the Administration Police by:
We are committed to ending child labour and the orphan crisis by educating vulnerable children, equipping caregivers, and supporting children’s homes across East and Central Africa.
