Mission Overview

Organized by Dr. Marrietta, UHOH’s Humanitarian Director, this mission to the Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya (CPSK)
was rooted in compassion, education, and inclusive care. The CPSK, a non-governmental institution owned by a fellow
parent, has dedicated itself to supporting children living with Cerebral Palsy (CP).

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect movement, muscle tone, and posture. It is caused by abnormal brain
development or damage to the developing brain, often before birth. Children with CP face daily challenges such as
difficulty walking, speaking, or performing tasks independently, and many require lifelong care and support.
Being a child with CP means living with limitations that many take for granted. It also means depending on loving
caregivers, specialized equipment like wheelchairs, and organizations that recognize their strength and dignity.

The CEO of United Hands of Hope, Dr. Harrisson Gilbert, personally led the donation mission. UHOH provided adult diapers tailored to the needs of children with CP, along with edible treats to bring smiles to the children’s faces.

These donations aimed to ease both the medical and emotional burdens on the families and caregivers at CPSK.

Our valued partners, the International Police Association (IPA), also joined the mission and contributed additional food donations, reinforcing the power of collective impact and humanitarian solidarity.

During this visit, UHOH also announced its upcoming initiative for families living with disabilities. On July 25, UHOH
will be donating 15 wheelchairs to children and parents who are unable to afford mobility aids for their loved ones.
This program will help restore dignity, mobility, and independence to those who need it most.

UHOH’s mission to CPSK reaffirmed our commitment to disability inclusion, advocacy, and meaningful collaboration. We
look forward to deepening our support for children with CP and their families while ensuring that no child is left behind due
to medical or social barriers.
